Rob's a huge nerd. It's okay to call him one. He readily accepts his fate. As captain of the nerds in high school, Rob was a nationally ranked debater and president of the chorus. At the University of Michigan, Rob made the transition to a more socially acceptable form of nerdiness, as he served as music director, business manager, and president of The Michigan GMen, an all-male a cappella group.
Lyn has lived in San Diego since 1996, but grew up back east, mostly in Illinois and Pennsylvania. A Yale graduate, Lyn studied Psychology and Biology in college, but realized during a summer of research before her senior year that her original plan of research science was not for her. Instead, Lyn used her writing and editing experience from several college publications to get jobs at The Atlantic Monthly and then Adweek after college in New York City, but then decided to move to the Left Coast in search of nicer weather and not so many cockroaches.
Lisa was born and raised in Cleveland, OH and received a Bachelor’s in Biology from Kenyon College and a Master’s in Microbiology/Immunology from Emory University. She was then lured to San Diego by the great weather and top scientific research community, where she worked over a twelve-year period as an immunological research associate for institutions including Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation, Johnson & Johnson and Viagene, Inc.
Kristin earned her B.A. in World Literature from UCSD and an M.A. in Teaching from Duke. She has worked as a community college professor at both Miramar College and Grossmont College, where she has taught writing, literature, and English as a Second Language. Kristin has also worked with international students through UCSD Extension’s English Language Institute. At last count, she had taught students from 49 different countries.
Ryan was born and raised in Cleveland (GO CAVS!), where he earned humanities degrees from John Carroll University and Ohio University. He has a strong affinity for words and feels genuine delight when the right ones are found. For the last ten years, he has worked in dozens of editing, tutoring, and instructing roles at five different colleges. He has also worked extensively as an editor for various literary journals, such as Narrative Magazine, New Ohio Review, and Fiction International.
Born and raised in San Diego (a.k.a. the best place on Earth), Katerina became fascinated with writing at an early age. Her father, who is an amazing storyteller, encouraged her to write stories and share them as a way to overcome her shyness as a child. His plan was a success, and she quickly fell in love with writing and telling stories.
